Becky and I have both felt led to share her story in the hope that it will help others that may unfortunately find themselves in a similar situation. Fatty liver disease is widely considered a "silent epidemic" since so many people have it but don't know it. Even those that know it, like Becky, me, and others in our family, don't really do anything about it because there are generally no symptoms, and it doesn't affect our day-to-day life -- until it does.
This blog was the first way for me to share. The next opportunity came when I was contacted by a representative at Patient Worthy about submitting an article. That turned into three articles being published on their web site.
An Unexpected Liver Transplant
Part One - Our Journey from Fatty Liver to Liver Failure
before she was admitted to the UTSW ICU in Dallas
Part Two - Our Journey from Liver Failure to Transplant
equipment in the ICU at the UTSW Hospital in Dallas
Part Three - Our Post-Transplant Journey (the first year)
about 9 months after receiving her transplants
We continue to explore other ways to share Becky's story. If you would like to help us share her story or if you have other questions, you can contact us at the email below.
Feel free to share this blog, the Patient Worthy website and our articles, or any of the following links with others that may find it helpful - even if they don't know it yet.
